Tara D’Mello Kamath, AMFT

Hello! My name is Tara D’Mello and I am a compassionate, social justice-oriented couples and family therapist committed to providing exceptional care. As an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT)  I maintain a systems perspective while working with individuals, couples and families.

I believe we all come into this life with trauma, whether it was inherited from ancestors or past generations or personally experienced in our lives, big or little T, none of us are exempt. This trauma tends to subconsciously inform our lives through our conditioned beliefs, patterns and behaviors. We all have a purpose, big or small and we all have the ability to heal our past traumas and live a conscious, fulfilled and purposeful life. My purpose is to help, guide and support others along their own healing journeys.

I’ve worked with children, adolescents, adults and families utilizing evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT), Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Emotionally-Focused therapy and Narrative Therapy. I use my specialized therapeutic training and education as well as spiritual and mindfulness-based practices to facilitate deep and transformational healing for my clients, to liberate them from their past in order to live a life of authenticity, peace and alignment.

I was born in India and migrated to Singapore at the age of 4, until I moved across the world to San Diego to pursue college as an International student. I received my Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University in 2017 majoring in Psychology with a minor in Counseling and Social Change. This minor was pivotal in confirming my desire to go into counseling and ignited the flame that has become my fiery passion for social justice. Following my bachelors I earned my Master’s in Couples and Family Therapy at Drexel University in Philadelphia, which proved to be transformational both personally as well as professionally.

I understand that choosing to get therapy can be a difficult first step, so I commend you on your courage to seek help. Therapy is a profoundly personal collaboration. If my approach resonates with you, contact me today. I would be honored to collaborate with and support you in your healing journey!
