Marisa Dao, APCC

Hello, my name is Marisa (she/her). As an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, I am passionate about supporting those navigating complex trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, racial and ethnic trauma and identity issues, substance use, intimate partner violence, sexual abuse/assault, active duty/veteran experiences, formerly incarcerated/ justice impacted experiences, life transitions, body neutrality, grief and loss, low self-worth and esteem, and you know all the other beautiful and terrible things in life!

My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago, and a Master’s Degree in Counseling, with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, from the University of San Diego. I use a trauma-informed lens and pull from a variety of different approaches including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT),Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and will often integrate mindfulness techniques during our session. Together we will collaborate to work towards the life you want for yourself and reduce the impact of your past experiences still tethered to your wellbeing.

It is my honor to create a space for healing, liberation, and growth because you are entitled to a trusting relationship grounded in compassion, authenticity, and patience. I am intentional about maintaining a holistic perspective and cultivating space for you to show up as your truest self because you are valued, you are seen, and you are worthy. If you are ready to embark on your healing journey, please reach out!
