Do you find yourself lashing out, avoiding certain situations, or feeling haunted by painful memories? Maybe it seems like there’s an ongoing battle inside you, leaving you overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in cycles of fear, anger, or hurt. Whether you're navigating past trauma, struggling with identity, or feeling trapped by emotional patterns, you don’t have to face it alone.
-
I specialize in EMDR therapy (certified by EMDRIA) and Parts Work, helping clients process trauma and reconnect with themselves. As a gay, Vietnamese American, Marine veteran with a Master’s in Multicultural Community Counseling, I bring a culturally sensitive, intersectional approach to healing. With over five years of experience working with military veterans, LGBTQ+ individuals, and survivors of childhood trauma, I provide a supportive space that is poly, neurodivergent, and kink friendly.
Healing takes courage, and trauma therapy requires patience and self-compassion. If you’ve been struggling, I want you to know that change is possible. Imagine reclaiming your life—responding instead of reacting, feeling safe in your own skin, and reconnecting with the people and experiences that matter most. If you're ready to take that step, I’m here to help. Reach out, and let’s begin this journey together.
Katie Banks, LPCC
Growing up in New York state, I had always wanted to change the world and help people. From a very young age, I remember getting a “doctor” gift for my birthday with the plastic stethoscope, and the “doctor Katie” printed on the jacket. After “listening” to my mother’s heart, I sat her down and said “mommy, how are you today?”. As I got older and the topic of psychology and neuroscience were explained to me, I began becoming fascinated with the brain and specifically the mind.
-
I am also a dancer and dance teacher, and dance and physical movement have always been such a big part of my life. It made complete sense to me to use dance as an emotional outlet. This was my savior throughout any and all hardships I’ve faced. I love spreading my passion for the art of dance and the emotional release it has, so it made perfect sense to start to marry the two worlds together: psychology and dance.
This led me to gain an Associates degree in Humanities with emphasis in performing arts, specifically dance. Then onto my Bachelor’s where I studied psychology with an emphasis on neuroscience. From there, I took a bold risk and moved across the country to San Diego and attended University of San Diego for my Masters degree in Counseling, specialization Clinical Mental Health. While at USD, I received my Practicum placement at an organization that works with Tribally enrolled and Tribally affiliated Native Americans/Alaska Natives where I have been able to further explore my passion for holistic counseling and alternative forms of counseling such as incorporating dance and movement into sessions.
I take a very Person-Centered approach where I allow you, the client, to be the guide, as you are the expert in your life and I am here to help you walk on that path and decide what works best for you. I draw from various therapeutic interventions including Gestalt theory, neurobiology, EFT, Attachment theory, Mindfulness based practices, CBT and DBT. I utilize play therapy with younger clients and with those who are interested in physical movement.
I hope through our work together, you gain a sense of grounded self, peace within your world, and new perspectives that will support and advance your growth and healing.
Margarita McFadden, APCC
For many of us, seasons of life can come when it feels like everything is falling apart. In those seasons we all deserve a soft place to land. Therapy can be that place. And you deserve a therapist who sees, hears, and understands you.
-
I believe that establishing a good working relationship with you requires acknowledging who I am and how I see the world. That way we can understand how our differences and similarities affect our therapeutic alliance.
As a queer, multicultural Chicana and White woman, born and raised in San Diego (unceded Kumeyaay territory), my identities and lived experiences inform my approach to therapy. I practice trauma-informed, multicultural counseling. This means that no matter who you are, where you come from, and what feels wrong in your life – I believe there is nothing wrong with you. Instead, with compassion and curiosity, I ask: what happened to you? I meet you where you are by offering treatment interventions which resonate with your individual characteristics. And if desired, I help you take charge of your own healing while also placing responsibility in the systems of oppression which have caused harm.
As an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (#12398), I have four years of clinical experience working with BIPOC clients, immigrants, LGBTQIA2S+ clients, neurodivergent youth, parents, and other communities. I have helped individuals, couples, and families address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relational challenges, and personal growth.
Each client’s experience is unique. But my overarching hope is that my clients feel a greater sense of personal power while also trusting that they are not alone on their journey.

I integrate EMDR, IFS, DBT, and ACT into my practice, tailoring my approach to meet each client’s unique needs. I also love incorporating art and games in the therapy room, creating a dynamic and engaging space for exploration and self-expression.
With experience in treating co-occurring disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and other mood disorders, I strive to provide a compassionate, evidence-based, and creative approach to therapy.
Nikalina Plescia, MPH, AMFT
Hi, I’m Nikalina, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who believes therapy shouldn’t feel like an intimidating, clinical experience—it should feel like a second home. My goal is to create a safe, casual, and even fun space where you can explore challenges, grow, and feel truly seen.
-
I bring a broad perspective to therapy, integrating my background in human development and public health to consider not just personal experiences but also the larger systemic influences on mental and emotional well-being. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and affirming of LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent experiences—I’m here to support you in a way that honors your identity and unique way of moving through the world.
I’ve worked with children, adolescents, individuals, and families facing a range of challenges, including trauma, domestic violence, attachment issues, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and that all-too-familiar weight of shame and guilt. Using a mix of Narrative Therapy, CBT, DBT, Bowen, and Structural Family Therapy, I tailor sessions to fit you—whether that means diving into deep conversations, incorporating movement, or finding creative ways to make therapy feel more engaging and meaningful.
When I’m not in session, you’ll probably find me teaching Reformer Pilates, soaking up time outdoors, or enjoying a long coffee walk (because movement and caffeine are an elite combo).
Therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff or scripted—let’s create a space where you can show up as your authentic self and start building the life you want.
